Week 3 Affirmation

"Stamina is sustainable strength in struggle."

Dear SEALTeam Families,

We’ve officially wrapped up Week 2 of summer camp, and what an exciting week it was!

Last Week's Highlights:
Our students had a blast on their field trip to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) and enjoyed an interactive experience with the visiting team from Jacksonville University’s Marine Science Institute, who brought the ocean to us with engaging, hands-on activities.
These experiences helped strengthen our weekly theme and affirmation:
"The most powerful nation is your imagination, and your imagination is shaped by information."

This Week’s Activities:
We’ve got another full week of fun, learning, and adventure ahead—including special guests, enrichment rotations, and more community-based learning opportunities. Please remember to send students in closed-toe shoes. A change of clothes is also recommended for younger students.

Starting Monday, June 16 – Lunch Program Begins!
We’re excited to officially launch our partnership with the Boys & Girls Club Food Program, which will provide daily lunch for all campers. The menu for the upcoming week is attached to this newsletter. Please review it carefully.
If your child has a documented allergy, we must have a doctor's note on file in order to make accommodations. Students are always welcome to bring their own lunch.

Guest Speaker – Tuesday, June 17 (Grades 4 & Up)
We’re honored to welcome an incredible guest speaker this coming week for our 4th grade students and up:
Mark Missigman
  • Retired Chief Petty Officer, U.S. Navy
  • Executive Director with the Maxwell Leadership Certification Team
  • Keynote speaker, coach, and leadership trainer
Mr. Missigman has served in operations involving Libya, Kosovo-Herzegovina, and South American drug interdiction missions. He’s been awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, five Navy Achievement Medals, and five Good Conduct Medals. His story of discipline, courage, and leadership will offer a powerful message to our students.

Onsite Activity – Wednesday, June 18:
Students in Grades K–3 will participate in a special onsite enrichment experience from the FSCJ Artist Series: Bite-Size Science—a fun, educational program designed to spark curiosity and excitement through interactive learning.

Family Fun Day – Friday, June 20 (Now Onsite!)
We’re excited to announce that our Family Fun Day will now take place onsite at the camp. Due to the forecast calling for high temperatures and possible rain, we’ve made this adjustment to ensure a safer and more comfortable experience for everyone.
  • Students in 4th grade and up will host their Family Fun Day on the playground from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
  • Students in Grades K–3 will host their session from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
  • Families with children in both age groups are welcome to attend either session. We’ll make sure all of their students can participate together during the time they attend.
📣 Planning to Attend?
Please use THIS LINK to let us know if you plan to attend Family Fun Day. This helps us prepare space, supplies, and the best experience possible for everyone. If this day presents a conflict for your family, feel free to reach out to us in advance.

As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership. We’re grateful for the opportunity to spend the summer with your amazing children!

Warmly,
Team Nitro MMA SEALTeam Leaders
